We still dont get it! Technology and Social media are meant to be instant and immediate, feeding into the gen Z way of life barreling towards us at break neck speed if we like it or not. So my new years resolution is to be quick and be off. Happy new Year!

Beware the office xmas party !

Could you please remove your tongue from my ear ? This is not what you want to hear at your Xmas celebration this year, but there will be many such comments made and actions done that could land your organisation in hot water. Its better to spend the few dollars on a cab and send the wayward employee home for a rest, rather than endure the consequences of this sort of behaviour at your officex mas party and end up in court.

Ever said that about a place you worked at. I know I have over the years. But what is interesting is that I never told management how much I hated working there and even worse, they never asked. Much can be learnt from the opinions of employees AFTER they leave the building, but when done in-house, you rarely, if ever get an accurate responce. This is an area where you really should use a consultant. At Parting Company, we have a range of programs that will gather your information and work with you to improve or understand an employees responces. Dont leave it another year, talk to us today about 2014.

Who is on your Bus ?

As your business grows you may need to employ additional staff with different skills or even employ staff for the first time. Making the right choice and ensuring you meet your obligations to your employees can ensure your business continues to succeed. Before you employ anyone new you really need to do your homework on the type of person that you want and not just from a skills perspective - perhaps the most important question is what kind of person fits into the culture of your organisation. Who do you need on your 'bus' and what skills and personality type will fit your culutre. We can help, we want your business to succeed. Contact Deirdre today to discuss our Psychcometric services and recruitment options today.

Another wake up call for the babyboomers

As another great baby boomer, Lou Reed dies, I am reminded again of the fragility of our generation. I am fortunate to be on the cusp of boomer and gen x but as a management issue, the on going challenge for business is to creat adaptive workplaces that can give us the opportunity to work longer into our years, as many of us will now need to, but be flexible and adaptive to changing health needs. I have a personal and professional interest in this issue, so please contact me to dicuss further if you do also.
